Hi. I’m Laura – a 40-something mom of two sons, a writer, and supporter of good causes. I love nature and I’m happiest when outside.
I founded Hiking For Good in the summer of 2018. At the time, I was training to hike the entire 190-mile Tahoe Rim Trail.
I wanted to organize my first overnight backpacking trip and rather than go solo, I sought the help of a friend and experienced backpacker. We invited others and soon Hiking For Good was launched with a three-part Backpacking Basics Series. I will always be grateful to that small band of early explorers who courageously opened their hearts to us. We learned together, invested in and borrowed gear, put on our packs and set out on our first adventure to Crooked Lakes. We spent 24 hours, making camp, swimming, stargazing, and trailblazing in a beautiful part of the Sierra Nevada.
I was hooked. Since then, Hiking For Good has teamed up with Outlandish Experiences to offer a full spectrum of day hikes and backpacking trips all year long for people of diverse abilities and interests who want to explore and connect more deeply with themselves, nature, and other humans. We hope you’ll be inspired to get outdoors with us!
